Dizzy In Living Colour

Description

I already posted the black and white version of this a fair while ago, but here it is finally coloured for the good folk at [link]

A surprising amount of people remember Dizzy. Here in the UK, people my age tend to have some vague memory of the Dizzy games, usually Treasure Island or Fantasy World Dizzy. But for the rest of you here's who he is. Dizzy was a little egg-shaped adventurer who used to star in computer games during the UK's earliest wave of homegrown video games. The games were viewed side-on like a platformer, but the focus was on the world around him rather than Dizzy's own skills (although he did have a nice somersault). The lavishly varied sets would impose obstacles in every screen to Dizzy's progress, but there would always be some item or combination of items lying around that would help him past. The object then was to collect those objects, work out how they could be used, and progress further into the map. This was more complicated than it sounds, and some of the games honestly were awesome.

So here's a nice new coloured version of this drawing of Dizzy. Sorry if it's a bit big. I did it on a big monitor. If you have a look at the black and white version, which I would link to except DA's all white and messed-up today, you'll see I've cleaned up some of the inking here, specifically I've evened out his eyes a bit and altered the golden eagle, which was just a blobby smudge before. Reason being, the actual drawing for this is tiny. Measured against the tip of my index finger, it doesn't even reach the 2nd knuckle. So the fiddly bits look fine on paper, but magnified they need some tweaking.

Anyone who's curious about Dizzy can go here:

...and play Treasure Island Dizzy (the 2nd or 3rd original Dizzy game) on your PC for free, and it's absolutely legal because Codemasters (who published the game originally) have put it there themselves. Isn't that great! Only down side is that Treasure Island is one of my least favourite Dizzies. Still, can't win em all!
